Why fly to Denmark?

Copenhagen is one of the few European city breaks where the airport-to-city journey is genuinely impressive: a 13-minute Metro from CPH directly to Kongens Nytorv in central Copenhagen for around £4. Combined with a small, walkable city centre, Copenhagen is the easiest fly-and-walk weekend in Northern Europe.

Flights from UK airports to Denmark

Copenhagen is the dominant gateway with daily flights from London (BA, SAS, easyJet), Manchester, Edinburgh and a handful of regional airports. Billund (Legoland country) and Aalborg run cheaper Ryanair routes from Stansted.

Denmark flights — frequently asked

How do I get from Copenhagen Airport to the city centre?

The Metro runs every 4–6 minutes from CPH directly to Kongens Nytorv in 13 minutes — buy a 36 DKK (≈£4) one-way ticket from the machines. Alternatively the regional train to Copenhagen Central takes 13 minutes for the same price.

Is Denmark expensive for British visitors?

Yes. Restaurant prices roughly track London 2 — expect £8–10 for a beer, £15–22 for a main course. Supermarket prices are 30–50% higher than UK. Public transport, museums and the airport-Metro link are reasonable.

What is the cheapest UK airport to fly to Copenhagen from?

London Stansted on Ryanair (when running) and London Gatwick on easyJet are typically cheapest, often £30–£60 return in February or November. SAS from Heathrow costs £30–£60 more for a fuller-service product.

Do I need cash in Denmark?

Almost never. Card payment works everywhere including taxis, food trucks and small kiosks. Bring £20 of local cash for emergencies; many businesses are now card-only.

Can I take the train from Denmark to Sweden?

Yes — the Øresund Train links Copenhagen Central to Malmö Central in 35 minutes for ≈90 DKK (£11). Excellent value if you want to combine two countries into one trip.
